Now how about showing more of what she can do?

Continued from last post... Ep. 8 -- Kara knows something is going on and BOOOOOM the kiss. Ep. 9 -- Mon-El makes the decision he wants to be a Superhero and falls more for Kara. Ep. 10 -- Set back episode for their relationship, except that Mon-El figures out his feelings, Kara does not. Ep. 11 -- Nothing happens relationship wise. Ep. 12 -- Kara figures out her feelings. Ep. 13 -- Both on the same page, and they take the plunge. Then Ep. 14 -- 17 + the Crossover has been strengthening of that relationship through adversity. 4 episodes of that. So not sure how this relationship was rushed....at all. AAAAND, as we now know from Kara in the crossover episode....it as been 9 months since Mon-El landed on Earth. That isn't a rushed relationship.

I don't see the Mon-el relationship as rushed at all. Timeline so to speak. Ep. 1 -- she finds this dashing young man in a Kryptonian pod. Bang he's from my home planet, and face it....he's hot. Ep. 2 -- she speaks to him letting him know that she will be with him in his journey on this planet... Ep. 3 -- ooops, he's a Daxamite, but Supergirl learns an important lesson on prejudice that continues throughout the season. Ep. 4 -- Not much change here... Ep. 5 -- that lesson is a hard one to learn, but Mon-El is falling for Kara and its obvious. Ep. 6 -- Mon-El has fallen for Kara, he just doesn't know it yet...and his journey as a hero, and someone that Kara can respect begins. Ep. 7 -- Mon-El realizes that Kara is truly and exceptional person and someone he needs to emulate which is far deeper than a physical attraction. Kara realizes that Mon-El means far more to her than she realized, she is just one step behind Mon-El at this point. Continued next post. :)

I can appreciate the romantic relationships in SuperGirl; however, I long for the action that was seen in the season 1 episodes. As for Cat, she was and is a very close friend of Kara/SuperGirl - so it would be nice to see her once in awhile. Seeing her does not mean that SuperGirl is in need of her advice, it just means SuperGirl would like to see her friend. I think there has been alot of growth of the SuperGirl character from season 1 to season 2 but I think that villains like MonEl's mother are long overdue. There have been very good scenes this season between Kara and Alex but I never tire of them and always want more of them with longer dialogue. I agree with Argo that they rushed Kara's love relationship in its intensity. However, now what I would like the show to concentrate on is expansion of the strength, power and dynamics of the character SuperGirl and her growth as the superhero that National city needs.

I for one, did not want a format repeat of the first season. Supergirl goes up against a villain, it is a massive struggle, but she prevails, she gets advice from Cat and then goes and eats pizza on the couch with Alex. That was fun to watch in the first season, but I appreciate those things with other people in the 2nd season with just a little bit of growth sprinkled in. Kara is much more confident as Kara and as Supergirl, so the confrontations have a different flavor than last season. I would have hoped for more formidable villains, but that just hasn't happened. Kara hasn't needed Cat this season, SHE HAS BEEN the voice of inspiration and strength. We have had great scenes between Kara and Alex, just not on the couch, we now have fun scenes on the couch with Mon-El. So, I can appreciate their effort to bring a new flavor to the series. My negatives that I've seen are really not with those changes, I've been fine with all of those. It has been more in the area of dialogue, editing and a seemingly disjointed story. I would love for them to bring back Ted Sullivan to the writing team, and give a lion share of the writing to the writers from last season. My hope for next season is that with the early renewal they can produce and write a story line for an entire season, rather than what has seemed to be an episode by episode disjointed story. I've enjoyed many episodes, but the season is missing something.

@Argo not every episode can resonate with everyone, I know your more into action. To me it just showed a different kind of strength. It takes strength to allow your self to be vulnerable. Kara's lost so much in her life it's not surprising she's built up a wall to protect herself. There are only two people with whom that wall doesn't exist at all Alex and now Mon-El. The last bit of wall with a Mon-El fell in the crossover. With Winn, and James there is still a distinct separation between goofy Kara and confident Supergirl. I can't see her playing Monopoly in the cape with James and Winn. The Wall is lower with Eliza and J'onn but still there. Actually both the Danvers sisters have lowered their walls and let themselves be vulnerable this season. Our miss independent has allowed herself to fall in love. What I hope the writers do with Kara and Mon-El now drop the drama and have them maturely navigate their relationship.

Hmm... It seems like Kara's heat vision is not the invincible weapon that it was in Season 1 anymore (when she deated Non in a heat-vision duel). A while back, that gang leader with his alien weapon (an "Andranian photon cannon") was able to overpower her heat vision. And in this episode, that alien with the "laser eye patch" outmatched Kara's heat vision, too. But of course, she then defeated him by reflecting his own laser energy blast back at him! Funny thing is - I actually anticipated this plot development in my own fan fiction series late last year! I wrote a chapter in which Kara's heat vision is overpowered by a new state-of-the-art experimental military laser weapon (which the bad guys have somehow gotten hold of). So Kara finally defeats them by reflecting their super-powerful energy beam back at them with a silver Mylar balloon (like the kind you can buy at Party City)! Here's the link to the story on my Facebook page, in case you'd like to see it: https://www.facebook.com/stewart.tick/posts/903601496437884?viewas=100000686899395

Loved this episode, one of the season's best ("Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" "You finally watched Star Wars!"). Did not mind at all that Kara was "sappy," when it comes to her romantic scenes with Mon El - particularly the opening scene. The way I see it is that Kara has experienced so much pain and loss - and as Supergirl she always has to be strong, perfect, an icon - so when she's with Mon El, in the privacy of her apartment, she allows herself to be happy. It took a while - many episodes - for her to get to that point. She's built up a strong barrier to protect herself from being hurt (after she lost Astra, broke up with James, etc. etc.) So I have zero problems with Kara taking a risk and being happy, even "sappy" in love for once.

I gave the episode a good. I thought Kevin Smith's direction was outstanding and the acting was first rate. The fight scenes were excellent and the CGI was well done. So technically the episode gets an A+. What was wrong? Somehow the script did not resonate with me and that was the drawback. Rhea's part chilled the blood in my veins. And yes, there were some great lines. But something was missing and again, I can't place my finger quite on it. I think a lot of it has to do with Kara's portrayal in this episode. She came across as an overwrought woman in love, so desperate and emotional. This is not the strong Supergirl of Season 1. Mind you, I have no problem with Karamel, except I think they rushed it and could have saved it for the season's end or Season 3. I think this may be why I rated the episode a good. I like these two writers, but nonetheless I thought Supergirl came across too sappy. On the other hand, Rhea is a villain worthy of Supergirl. I look forward to her joining with Cadmus as a thorn in her side. I would enjoy hearing your thoughts on my comments.

I just re-watched the episode again - There were some really good parts in this episode: The breakfast in the morning was very cute with MonEl demonstrating that he can cook and Melissa just has that little kid look when she gets excited. It was also cute the way when Kara saw the holograph image of herself that she pointed and said "Hey that's me". I like the way Alex overlooked what Maggie had done in the past and I love the way that she always watches out for her sister by taking the phone call right away and leaving to make sure her sister was okay. MonEl's mother did not surprise me when she killed her husband, like I've said before, her and the evil queen in sleeping beauty could be sisters and Hatcher plays the part so well. The president for the first time seemed to be evil and scary - don't know what that is about - but I have a feeling its going to be something big. Jonn is always good in these episodes - he is like the calming force for all of the characters in SuperGirl. I also love it when you see Winn, James, SuperGirl - the old team, coming together. I am sure SuperGirl's team of fighters will be Winn, James/Guardian, MonEl, Lena Luthor and of course Alex and Jonn. I am still hoping that we get to see more kick butt action from SuperGirl as we have future episodes - the crossovers are okay but I just don't like the way they take Melissa from being in her own show as much. My favorite scenes will always be those between SuperGirl and her sister Alex.

Wonderful performance by Teri Hatcher in that episode, she's was brilliant in every scene she was in. I was actually disappointed we didn't get more Supergirl action, they could've had some more cool fights with Supergirl vs different Bounty Hunters but instead it was decided to stand her down for 24 hours, maybe this was filmed around the crossover also and Melissa wasn't available the same. Tease time again, like in Star-Crossed last week when there was a chance of a Kara/James/Winn adventure together, tonight we were shown a game night with Kara, Winn and James but it only lasted about 15 seconds, would've been nice if it was even just a 1 minute long scene of them having some fun, similar to the Kara/Winn/James/Lucy game night in Red-Faced last season.

Well, to be honest, for the past few episodes, since I realised where they were going with Mon El, I have been wishing for a way to like him (I had liked him until the romance, and then had been indifferent to him). And, this episode did that for me. So, I am happy about that. As in, if I have to keep watching the show, I need to like the characters and root for them... So... Besides, this season has made the love interests front and centre and they seem to say, romantic love is the most important love of all. So, if that is the show's theme going forward, I'd like to be able to watch it without failed expectations. Oh and, in this, this show is now no different from other shows that I watch, so I have stopped blaming it for things everybody else does. I think the president, cadmus and Rhea are all going to work together and be thrice as bad for season finale. (I felt, the president was in it with the Daxamites). Alex-Maggie; it looks to me that the showrunners are going a bit overboard here; I mean, the aim was for us to have a gay character in a superhero show, right? They are going about it as if that means, they need to have a gay relationship show along with a superhero show. Well, to be fair, Kara is having her own relationship story too, so there is that. But, this is her show. Also, even if the sisters are only secondary in eachother's life, I'd like to see Alex remain a part of the main story too.

Really good episode yet again. Action was on point. We now see how strong Kara and Mon-El's love is. She is like the evil stepmother from hell. When Mon-El learns that she killed his "good" father he will be pissed. I think he will take his name Lar Gand (also his superhero name in comics most times) to honor his father and become the true superhero we know from the comics. He already has grown so much. He adores and admires Kara and hopefully soon she will say those 3 magic words to him also. A very solid episode 8.5 /10 Now the 3 week hiatus until April 24th. Ugh!

IGN hit the nail on the head because close to season's end, there is no direction at all. It's all scattered. Part of the problem was the move from CBS to CW, but I have to wonder how much time did they really had to plan the 2nd season. The show has early renewal so they have plenty of time to correct their mistakes and plan the 3rd season. I also agree that Supergirl needs a villain that can match her in some way. The villains in this one are mostly Human. Fedguy did a great job in summarizing all the shows in nutshells. In Supergirl's case, there is no core at all. As far as Kara reinventing herself as an arc, that has failed because all we've seen is her love life with Mon-El and little on her journalism career.

I can summarise the four shows right now and a problem can be seen. Arrow : Oliver has been confronted by a new enemy called Prometheus who seeks to make him realise his crusade was a mistake and rethink his actions. The Flash : A new speedster known as Savitar kills Iris in the future, and Barry must find a way to save her and stop him. Legends : The Legends must work together to stop the Legion of Doom from obtaining and using the spear of destiny. And now..... Supergirl: Kara has been facing different aliens each day in National City. An organisation called Cadmus sporadically strikes and has a vague, but different plan for each encounter, and are thwarted everytime. Alex dates Maggie. James wants to be a superhero. Daxamites have come to reclaim Mon-El and it looks like they're here to stay. Kara made a friend in Lena but we don't know her allegiance. The President is secretly a sinister alien. So....I think we can see a problem here. We need that one core issue every other show has.

The thing about Kara reinventing herself is not an arc as per CW tradition. That's a theme. Arc would be something like saving Iris from Savitar or stopping the Legion of Doom. In both those shows that has been made very clear, in fact that is the case for every season of every other CW shows. So of course writers hint at the end game. And thank you, ciusigna08

No KET1, the reviewer at IGN is independent of the site visitors and is normally very on point with regard to the show. This particular paragraph nailed the situation as well. Those who have seen me comment long enough know that I'm a firm supporter of this show. There's no shame in identifying a fault. Think about it, surely you can admit this season has not been very cohesive when it comes to a season structure. The individual episodes have been good but as a season the direction is unknown ambiguous.

Yeah, it was like only her second time at keeping a secret from Alex. :) Well, as long as Sanvers continues to generate publicity over its sensitive storyline (this week, a new interview with Chyler for Hollywood Life), then things are progressing just fine. I think what Kelly means (correct me if I am wrong) is that it would be nice if the sanvers scenes were more part of the show's stories like they were in episode 15 (Exodus). Often times sanvers scenes feel like its a part of another show and not connected. Integrating them would be more fun.

That's unfortunate, since IGN has been normally clueless about the series since its inception. Lots of click-bait for gamers and fanboys, though. However, with quicky episode recaps, they usually can't find the other side of a barn with a road map and a magnifying glass. 1. There's two of 'em. Maybe more...but guess which two at this point.... 2. Story is Kara Danvers seeking to reinvent herself (outside of being Supergirl, of course) after her mentor at CatCo took off on an extended vacation. 3. Clever writers don't leave obvious clues on how a story arc is supposed to end. Otherwise, why should we bother to keep tuning in, if we already know the ending from a mile off? :)

How is no one discussing the whole thing about.... With all they preach about ethics amongst each other in both seasons... it's ok for them to now disobey a direct order from the President??? Granted... She's probably an evil alien in cahoots with Cadmus. But, J'onn and crew don't know that. Interesting. so... robertAnthony... More hypocrisy exposed. Naughty naughty, Super Friends. Other than that... I agree with Kelly. Enough of Them dealing with Maggie's baggage drama. There... That's my two negatives. Positives: Loved Alex's big sister moment. and, even when I disagree with some storyline choices, Chyler continues to absolutely kill it with her mad actin skillz... Whatever the scene. LOVED that the writers went "there," and let Rhea kill her hubby. Now THAT'S an evil bad arse... Formidable foe for Kara. Good solid gritty villain...no cheesy fluff. Put her and Lillian together? Sweet mother load of evilness. Great action sequences. Really good humorous moments. Bravo on the writing. Extra credit for slipping in a nod to an iconic Princess Leia/Luke moment..."Aren't you too short to be a Storm Trooper?"

"Tonight’s Supergirl is one of those weird episodes that’s solid on its own merits, but somewhat disappointing in the context of the season as a whole. Of the four Arrow-verse shows, Supergirl is the one with the least tangible sense of direction right now. It hasn’t been entirely clear what the endgame of Season 2 is meant to be, and with the series set to take a month-long break before the final push, it’s still annoyingly unclear where things are headed." What IGN says, and kinda what I think. Episodes are always good on their own, but what is with the Season goal? Who's the big bad, what's the story, what's the endgame plan?

Without getting too much into the minutiae of the episode, let me simply say that this episode worked well and was very watchable - much more so than the Flash crossover. Kudos to Kevin Smith for making it more cohesive, consistent and fun. I expected the Queen Rhea turn at the end and was not disappointed. It's a pity that Kevin Sorbo's Lar Gand character was offed so soon, but it serves to move the story arc along nicely. I have a feeling that Queen Rhea and President Marsdin may play a larger overall role in the last set of episodes when they return in late April and into the May sweeps.

Really liked this episode for several reasons: 1. Some outstanding action sequences: Kara vs the bounty hunter, Kara vs Mon-El, Rhea attacking Supergirl, and the struggle on the ship. 2. Some good humor, reminiscent of season 1. 3. Nice addition to the Sanvers narrative without breaking the flow of the episode. 4. Nice to see J'onn back in action. 5. I was skeptical that Rhea had a kryptonite dagger, as many of you had suggested. Boy, was I wrong! She is TROUBLE and will be back. 6. It'll be intriguing to see how this subplot with the President plays out. Best episode of the season due to action sequences, humor, and fewer subplots.

We don't get to see him use that ability very often. Finally got to see the president in her full alien form... the face looks familiar but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it'll come to me. Will there be any consequences for Rhea killing Lar? Maybe if they were on Daxam, but on the ship I imagine everyone is loyal to her, and by the time they get back she'll have had time to make up a good story. I wonder whether she will leave now, though, or stay to try and recapture Mon-El. And how will he react when he learns what happened?

I wondered if the President was behind the bounty on Supergirl, she could have slyly eliminated one of Earth's mightiest defenders and blamed it on the Daxamites. It looks like KaraMels's bonds grow ever deeper. Wasn't Maggie out of character? I can't believe she didn't yell and then walk out after learning of Alex's meddling behind her back.
I thought the episode was one of the better episodes - there was alot of SuperGirl in it and there was alot of action. I also was surprised with the ending but MonEl's mother is evil and Hatcher plays it so well. I was surprised about the President, her reprimand of Jonn was totally out of character - I thought she was good but now I'm not so sure. I thought the scenes with Alex and Maggie were good and they showed that Maggie was not so perfect either but I'm glad Alex accepted that fact. I like the fact that they are starting to take Winn on more adventures with them. I am happy for Kara/SuperGirl that she has someone to love also; however,in my opinion, it seems like he is in every sequence. Its like you can't see SuperGirl unless you see MonEl. I just want to see SuperGirl action without MonEl always in it. Take the example of Maggie and Alex, you see Maggie with Alex but you have plenty plenty of Alex scenes that do not have Maggie in them. They need to do the same with MonEl.

Notice the focus back on Supergirl after the last couple of episodes. That was due to the musical crossover. James seems to be just there. Nice to see Lynda Carter back as President. I hope Supergirl and the others find out about her alien nature. Lar Gand and Rhea are like this season's equivalent of Non and Astra. Whereas Astra is dead, Lar Gand is dead as well. Could Rhea fill the void left by Astra? Supergirl gets involved in several good fights. I'd say this is better than Supergirl Lives.

The President of the US REVEALED HERSELF AS AN ALIEN. Her hypocrisy has been exposed and could play a factor in the last few episodes. Nothing from nothing it was great seeing Lynda Carter, Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo together. Sad to see Lar-Gand go. And now Kara may have THREE baddies at the end of the season 1) Cadmus 2) An angrier Rhea 3) The President who is now an alien, or maybe a Metahuman. There was some funny things in the early acts like BACONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN and "Hey That's Me!" and "Alien Clean-Up on aisle 3." I must say though this wasn't as good as Kevin Smith's first go-round. But the relationships slowed things down as always, until the big fight in the ship. And all I can say is thank you Kevin Sorbo for coming back to TV, Teri Hatcher as well for ditching her Lois Lane personna for sure. Bonus points for cutie Kara freakouts and the zoom out of Kara in full gear in the power pose. Should Kevin Smith get a third episode for season 3? Yeah, i guess so. Full review soon. But my score...a somewhat solid 9, also bonus for VERY little to no social comments. Just entertianment. Now a THREE WEEK WAIT.
