It seems like Kara is using her powers less and less in season 2 so far. Less flying
Also, she hardly ever seems to rescue people anymore.
I agree with you on this Illinoisandy and is something I've noticed also given my love of Supergirl's Superheroics and flying, they do appear to be significantly down from Season 1 especially the rescuing of ordinary civilians.
I've been looking and thinking back over S1 E3 - 11 and comparing that to S2 E3 - 11
S1 E3 - 11 Superheroics included:
- E3 Fight or Flight - Rescued the trapped bus driver, protected Maxwell Lord from Reactron's blasts, saved Winn from the falling pillar
- E4 How Does She Do It? - Held up the building, flew the bomb out of the city, stopped the train
- E5 Livewire - Rescued the pilot from the helicopter, protected Cat from Livewire's electricity, saved Cat from the fast falling elevator
- E6 Red Faced - Stopped the road rage drivers from hitting the kids, flew at speed to stop the tornado.
- E7 Human For a Day - Rescued the school bus from falling over the edge of the road, blew out the fire on the building, saved James from falling down the elevator shaft
- E8 Hostile Takeover - Prevented the debris from falling on the crowd during her fight with Astra
- E9 Blood Bonds - Protected Alex with her cape from the Bomb Blast
- E10 Childish Things - Inhaled the poisonous gas saving the lives of Winn and the FBI agents, protected Winn from the bullets and then used her freeze breath to create a ice wall and save all the people at the convention
- E11 Strange Visitor from Another Planet - Saved the family from the forest fire
Pretty awesome stuff.
There are only a few instances in S2 E3 - 11 that stick out in terms of rescuing people and they were in E3 Welcome to Earth where she protected the President twice, in E5 Crossfire when she flew up to save the police officer and in E8 Medusa where she saved the security guard and protected Lena from Cyborg Superman and chased the missile which had an awesome flying shot, otherwise most of her superpowers are used when fighting villains.
I'm not even sure in Season 2 we will see something as amazing as Lifting Fort Rozz into space but here's hoping.
I won't go into details on the flying scenes (which were superb in Season 1) but there is definitely not as much of them in Season 2.
Don't know of any reasons for this as the Budget was supposedly going to stay approximately the same or increase a little with the move from L.A. to Vancouver.
For fun remember this video CBS put out at the end of 2015?.
