There was lot of talk online about Supergirl not being able to fly in outer space after 1x20, Better Angles. Alex telling Kara she lack s the ability to fly in space.
If you watch the extended trailer for the 2nd half of the season, there is scene with Kara zapping an alien ship with her heat vision while she's in space. You can see asteroids in the background.
In an exclusive interview posted today on cbr.com, talking about filming 2x09, Kevin Smith confirms this scene. It looks like Kara really can fly in space after all.
Maybe Kara needs some type of oxygen supply unit to be able to fly in space. She didn't have one in "Better Angels".
