If you look carefully at the stills from the musical crossover, the costume is I think slightly lighter in hue around the waist than in the chest or arms. The latter appears to be the old hue It also looks, perhaps, to have been taken in a bit.
I think it may just be the lighting. And, I believe the "change in suit" the reporter was mentioning was probably one of Kara's 40's costumes. But, I could be wrong.

I think it was a reporter for Entertainment tonight saying she saw Melissa in her new suit for the musical and she looks stunning. I thought that statement was what you were originally referencing along with the first photos of the episode.
