What's this bit with Kara always ordering "club soda" at the bar?
I mean, really - Who's still calling plain sparkling water "club soda" these days? Most people I know just call it Perrier (regardless of whether it really comes out of a Perrier bottle or not). Maybe Kara is watching too many old-time Hollywood gangster-and-cop movies in her spare time!
Besides I wouldn't expect our Miss Danvers to go for plain unflavored carbonated water, anyway - too bland! She certainly has a sweet tooth, right? In my own fan-fiction stories, I've always had her showing a preference for sweet, fruit-flavored soft drinks, especially Jupina pineapple soda and Inca Kola.

Um, I call it club soda...???? And there are differences...

Seltzer water and Club soda are ok for mixing in drinks, whereas sparkling water is not because it has a pretty distinct taste different from the other two.

And as I said, I drink and call club soda, ....... club soda. One of my favs is....

Which is very different in taste from this....

and other fruity sparkling waters...

Actually we repeatedly see Kara's apartment television set to classic "Golden Age" hollywood movies (is she a TCM fan?).

Plus, Clark clearly has a bunch of "throwback" personality quirks, so she could have picked it up from him.

OK, then - I stand corrected!
And yes, you're right, Kelly - there is a difference between club soda (and seltzer water) and Perrier-style sparkling water, come to think of it. Club soda and seltzer water have a lot more carbonation ("fizz" ) than sparkling water (which originally referred to naturally carbonated spring water).
I guess there are some fairly big regional differences in soft-drink preferences here in the US nowadays . For all I know, club soda may very well be a popular drink in California today. But here in Florida, there is a strong preference for sweet, fruit-flavored soft drinks (many of which come from the Caribbean or Central & South America). I haven't heard anyone in my age group talk about drinking club soda in years. But it was much more well-known to my parents' generation and was sometimes mentioned in movies of the 30s and 40s. (It was what the strait-laced "teetotaler" character always ordered at a bar.)

I have chalked it up to wanting to look like she is fitting in.

Good choice, I tried Inca Kola about 15 years ago when I was in Australia and thought it really nice.
