I have a feeling it is far more "the challenge of the role" for Melissa than anything else.

As far as "Patriot's Day" it ran as long as most movies. The time span of movies in theaters today is almost 1/2 what it was a decade ago. The movies today can make far more on DVD and On Demand/Netflix/Amazon programming....the day of a movie in the theaters for more than 2 months are gone unless you are a Star Wars movie, of course.

OT--This mini-series is based on the infamous raid of the Branch Davidian cult in Waco, TX where the federal government under the Clinton years, bombed and killed all in the cult.

As for Melissa, I fear she is feeling the typecasting bug which is why she is doing these things, although I still believe she still enjoys playing Supergirl. But this is a chance to add to the old resume.

She has been in Patriots Day which seemingly disappeared from theaters and is now on DVD/On Demand. Kind of sad despite the message of patriotism in the film, Melissa's playing the wife of one of the Boston Marathon bombers notwithstanding

Now as for this Paramount Network, many of us here in the states call it Spike TV, formerly TNN The National Network or even The Nashville Network going way back to 1983. It's owned by Viacom, and will rename itsef The Paramount Network next year.

Which leads me to this WILD AND CRAZY suggestion. Despite the pending name change, one of Spike/Paramount Net's top shows is the wild and zany Lip Sync Battle. Come on guys...get me Meilssa Benoist and Chyler Leigh in the Danvers Sisters Showdown! In the words of 90's pop diva Mariah Carey...MAKE IT HAPPEN!

By doing very un-Supergirl roles while the show is still on the air, maybe she can avoid the typecasting that has plagued so many actors once their big role ends.
I hope so, because she is the best actor on this series, and deserves to have a long career post-Supergirl.

I agree that this is a good role for MB. She has made good career choices which will broaden her resume and credentials. With her level of talent and versatility, I believe we will be hearing from her for a very long time.

Rom, I couldn't agree with you more. This should be a juicy role for Mel where she can stretch her acting chops.

This is nice to know. It puts another feather in her acting cap and proves she can be versatile and perform in roles in various genres. Should be an interesting mini series.
