We seem to have some negativity creeping in so I want to bring some positive. One year ago today the last episode of season one, “better angels” aired and with a huge cliffhanger, which was a gutsy move by the producers considering the show hadn’t been renewed yet. Then for three and a half weeks we didn’t know if the show would get a second season. As a Californian I wasn’t happy at all when it was revealed the show’s application for a tax break to film in the state was denied.

Once the show was renewed with a network and filming location change we still worried what these major changes would mean. Would the VFX suffer due to a lower budget? It wasn’t a question of if we would lose cast members but how many and who. The cast member I was actually most worried about was Chyler Leigh because of her young family. We did completely lose some great characters in Lucy and Max. Calista Flockhart not wanting to make the move wasn’t surprising and makes me wonder what the producers knew and when they knew it because they set things up for less Cat.

Let’s take a moment to be grateful for where we are today. We have known for more than four months that season three will happen. One of the complaints about season two has been what seems like a lack of planning leading to a scattered storylines, and that may be in part because of the last minute renewal. With several months extra planning time I am excited to see what the producers and writers can do with season three. However before I look to season three, I am going to enjoy the heck out of the last five episodes of season two even more without the threat of cancellation looming.

Use this post to share how you were feeling last year compared to this year and why you are grateful for the show.

In a nutshell, I'm grateful the show is on the air. Period. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get the show to where it is today.

It took close to 40 years to get a viable female-led superhero series back on TV (the last real success being Wonder Woman back in the 1970s), and over 30 years since any movie version of the character was shown. The show was / is the fulfilment of a life-long ambition to bring the GoS back to a screen (any screen) and to gain positive social acceptance.

For me personally, anything positive that happened / is happening / will happen from the time of the pilot's first airing to now and onward, is pure gravy. Provided the writers, actors, crews and producers don't mess up a good thing by doing too much too quickly, the show will cement its place in the cultural fabric for a segment of society that had been underserved or ignored for far too long.
