Episode Description:
WHITE MARTIANS ATTACK THE DEO — Armek (guest star Terrell Tilford), a White Martian, descends on National City intent on taking M’gann (guest star Sharon Leal) back to Mars to face her punishment as a traitor. Hank (David Harewood) and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) determine the best way to keep M’gann safe is to bring her to the DEO. However, when it is revealed that Armek shape-shifted into M’gann and is now loose in the building, the team realize he could be disguised as any one of them. David McWhirter directed the episode written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn (#211). Original airdate 2/6/2017.

I thought it was a solid episode and loved the two white martian surprise. Actually, it was more of a relief to me because without the second white martian I thought there was just a massive plot hole I'd have to overlook - one white martian being both Winn and M'gann at the same time.
There is one storyline I'd like to vent about (not trying to be negative...just want to gather my thoughts). I really like Kara and Mon'El and am rooting for them to get together. And it seems like eventually they will at some point this season (though probably not for long).
The writers seem to do this thing with Kara's potential romantic relationships where they make them totally one sided to start. Winn was completely in love with her. She didn't feel the same. She had a massive crush on James (refuse to call it love...seemed more like puppy love) but they never built up his side of the relationship IMHO. Kara and Cat's son was two dates so that doesn't really count. And now we have Mon-El. I think the writers have done a great job of showing Mon-El slowly developing feelings for Kara. But other than small glances, laughing at jokes or having her first drink with him they have not really shown her developing feelings for him. In fact, they've had her flat out deny that she thinks of him like that. At they end of the episode they try to spin it that maybe Kara does have feelings for him but they are complicated by her own history. Now, as I am firmly in the Karamel camp I'm willing to buy just about anything so I will gladly buy this...but there is still the part of me thinking "I don't know, she seemed pretty clear that she didn't think of him like that".
P.S.-Don't get me started on the Miss Tessmacher thing. I get it. But the "as soon as Kara realizes how she feels he has moved on" trope is so cliche I was a little disappointed they went there. Probably won't last long...one or two episodes tops.
Anyway, I did enjoy the episode and can't wait for the Luthor-centric one next week.
P.P.S - Almost forgot one of the best parts of the episode - Vasquez!! Can we please get a Vasquez spinoff? Because she is all kinds of awesome.

Soooooo
Great episode first of all.
But a little bummed the writers really enjoy adding complications to the Kara/Mon-El story.

Several cheers for Kara's stunt double. Supergirl's head over heels pike somersault with some spin and back into an object, after the Martian punched Supergirl really hard, was particularly noteworthy..Note also various punches into floor slides, though perhaps some of them were the actress herself.
They appear to have changed the flying rigs. We see much more climb while standing or flat horizontal.
Perhaps it is just me, but the ad density seemed to have climbed again.

That episode was all about the lock down at the DEO part for me, there was some absolutely fantastic stuff there including:
- The classic round table to see who's the villain with Agent Vasquez (was good to see her back) brilliant in this scene
- The trial by fire scene was great with Jeremy Jordan superb in his action scene and villain turn
- Great action scenes and fights especially between J'onn and Armek in their human form, some more awesome Blake Neely music to go with it.
David and Sharon have been fantastic together this season and that was such a beautiful scene where they bonded together before she left.
The Danvers sisters scene in Kara's apartment was nice to see, Melissa and Chyler totally rock, they are always an awesome watch in those scenes.

Much improved episode from last weeks. so much to like.
- White martians are just so cool, scary, powerful.
- Loved the double white martian twist, that got me.
- some nice sister moments even if 1 of them was fake
- another Sanvers light episode but I suppose Alex is trying to find the balance of being with Maggie and being there for Kara.
- Winn was great this episode, he was trending on twitter for quite awhile
- Liked that Winn and Kara seemed to have come to an understanding of his Guardian thing.
- For the most point the action was on point, but I do wish they would chill on the slow motion fight sequences, they don't look so hot.
- plz tell me we haven't seen the last of M'gann, I mean she is going to return right?
- Glad they finally just said so some fans can finally understand why Kara is shy about commitment. She has serious abandonment issues.
- How cool is that gun?
I'll post more later after a rewatch

I gave this a very good episode. It felt like old home week from last season. I especially enjoyed Vasquez's reappearance. She has always been one of my favorite minor characters. I certainly hope she returns again!
The fight scene and the CGI were extremely well done. If anything, we have seen great improvements in both areas this season. Kudos to the sore, black and blue stunt people !
The story was good though the loss of Miss Martian was pushing it a bit. I understand, however, that the writers and EPs probably needed to move on. The effective sisters night was wonderful. Those two women talk without fear and share a bond beyond comprehension. Kara has always struck me as a somewhat tragic, fearful figure. Mind you this does not mean she is not strong nor can be happy. It all stems from her departure from Krypton and her sense of abandonment that stems from that. It affects her relationships, as well. She wants to have a relationship with Mon-El, but is fearful of "putting herself out there." This is fear of abandonment.
Overall, I am pleased with this episode. It starts entering into the orbit of quality episodes like "Falling." Keep it guys. Part 2 of this season has the potential of recapturing what was lost from last season.

Great episode overall!
Especially enjoyed the roundtable discussion wondering which one was the white Martian in disguise.
Nice to see Vasquez back and given more than just a couple lines.
The fight scenes were great, although I don't like how hey have weakened J'onn Jonz in fight scenes. He can do better than that.
And please, please, we gotta see M'Gann again! I think J'onn called her Miss Martian gave a hint that she might be back.

This time Supergirl beat unconscious (they wake up quickly) a white martian by herself, while Jonn was busy with the other one (and not beating it). The alien pistol showed up from last episode. I infer that CGI limits meant that the Supergirl v Martian scenes had to some extent be in the background.
There was an opportunity for Kara and Alex after their touching scene at the end to figure out that there was still time for Supergirl to fly Alex to the concert, Alex to say "she's a really good detective", and Kara to fly Alex and Maggie to the event in the nick of time.

Good episode. Nice to see Kara kicking butt again. Loved having some outdoor vertical flying shots. I've been missing this sort of stuff from season 1.
My only issue with the episode was when the clock was counting down, and they've got less than 15 minutes to find Winn and stop the reactor from exploding and taking out 10 blocks of the city, they all decide it's time to take a break and have some heart to hearts. Really guys?

Lots of people have said the same thing here's my "explanation" for this. The white martian was in Alex's mind and wanted to keep Supergirl away from finding Winn, the core, and figuring out there were two for as long as possible. The white martian figured out a way to distract Supergirl and it worked on two levels. I can't say if this is what the writers intended but it works for me. Since they made Alex remember I will give the writers the benefit of the doubt and say it was intentional.

One might propose that they should have asked Supergirl to search by herself at super-speed. Perhaps they will think of this next time.
